About Food 4 Kids:
About Food 4 Kids: The Food 4 Kids Program provides a weekly sack of shelf-stable food items during the school year to feed children that are at risk of going hungry over the weekend—that means nothing to eat from Friday night to Monday morning. During the school year, free and reduced cost breakfast and lunch are available to eligible students Monday thru Friday at the schools. However, on Friday, a sack of food is given to students identified by the school as lacking sufficient food for the weekend. Food 4 Kids is a cooperative program between the schools and the Agape Mission, which runs Food 4 Kids. The Agapé Mission is a non-profit and non-denominational organization located in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. By the daily grace of God and with the help of dedicated volunteers, we minister to the physical and spiritual needs of those in our community who are unable to meet those needs on their own. The Food 4 Kids Program was started during the 2005-2006 school year and now reaches every school in Washington county and a few in neighboring counties. The current total is 14 schools. Last year, Food 4 Kids gave away over 20,000 sacks of food. Since every kid who receives food is means tested by the school, you can see how great the need is right here at home.
